Beyond Health
Better health outcomes go hand in hand with stronger, more self-reliant communities. Alongside our diabetes work, RHO invests in the people and systems that help Ghanaian communities thrive.
Why It Matters
Income, education, and social support all shape a family's ability to eat well, attend screenings, and manage a chronic condition like diabetes. That's why RHO's community work extends beyond health education into the economic and social empowerment of the people we serve — particularly women, who are often the primary caregivers and health decision-makers in their households.
Focus Area
Practical vocational and small-business skills workshops that help women build independent, sustainable income sources.
Sessions addressing women's health alongside diabetes risk — including maternal health, nutrition, and preventive care across life stages.
Community-based peer savings groups that strengthen financial resilience and give women a safety net for health and household needs.
Opportunities for women to take on leadership roles within RHO's community health outreach and mentor others coming up behind them.
Also Building
Mentorship and health education programs that equip young people in our communities with knowledge and confidence for the future.
Livelihood skills and small-business support extended to community members broadly, not limited to any one group.
Training local volunteers as community health champions who carry awareness and support into their own neighbourhoods.
Bringing health and empowerment resources to communities that otherwise have limited access to this kind of information.
